From a small painting company to a recognized name in reconstruction services, BuildBak has grown by prioritizing quality, integrity, and craftsmanship. Nate and his brother Matt handled every project themselves in the early years, learning firsthand what it takes to deliver exceptional results.

Extensive damage originated from a tub overflow in the unit above this condo. Upon demolition of the damaged areas it was discovered that the building did not have the proper footings in place. They had to be repoured and the entire layout of the space had to be reconfigured to meet current building code. The code update required that an egress window be added to the basement bedroom window. This involved relocating an entire stairwell to the opposite side of the unit.

The simplicity of these before and after photos doesn’t do justice to the complexity of the project. This was a restaurant with complex finishes and required the organization of 10 different subtrades including, but not limited to, movers, flooring installers, framers, electricians, and commercial glass to complete the project. There was a large staff that had to be kept on payroll during the shutdown so time was of the essence. We were able to keep the time the restaurant had to close down to about 3 weeks thanks to our amazing team!

A frozen sprinkler pipe on the 3rd floor of an apartment building caused a loss that affected 23 units 6 of which had displaced tenants. The loss had major impacts to common hallways and stairwells so all tenants in the building were affected. A project like this requires extensive communication and flexibility with all tenants. It is important to work around each tenant’s individual schedule with a focus on expediting tenants staying in hotels to minimize any hotel charges. From the date the permit was issued it took about 5 weeks to complete the project. Luckily our amazing team was up to the challenge.

A leak in the roof while the insured was away caused extensive damage throughout the entire home. This project was unique because the insured didn’t want any changes to the existing surround speaker system throughout the home which was installed sometime in the 80’s. There was no way to replace it so some parts had to be rebuilt by an audio specialist which was more difficult than replacing the whole system.

The insured was away during winter when the furnace in the home failed. This lead to many frozen and burst pipes throughout the home. While the entire kitchen had to be rebuilt, we were able to save the solid wood cabinets. We brought them to a local craftsman who refinished all the faces to restore them from the water damage.

When a fourth floor water line burst in a commercial condo building during the early days of the COVID shutdown, it took days before anyone realized it. By the time the leak had been discovered, this second floor condo had been completely destroyed. The tenant was actively trying to cancel the lease so it was imperative that it be rebuilt within about 60 days – which it was.

Reviews

After frozen pipes burst in our condo, we were in desperate need of a restoration company. Our first restoration company left us high and dry after doing a flood cut. It turns out that this company took on too much work after many homes were damaged in our area after a deep freeze We were happy to find Buildbak but were skeptical after our first experience. Paul met with us and explained the work to be done. He was very easy to communicate with and kept us up to date with all of the repair work.
We are very pleased and grateful for the professional and timely work done in our condo. The walls are just perfect and the paint job is exceptional. The granite countertop was repaired and sealed like new. The furniture was put back in place and our condo was left spotless by their cleaning company. We were amazed that they were able to come in and do the work so quickly. We highly recommend this company.

I have not written a review in such a long time, but this company is definitely well deserving of a 5 star review, and any referrals I can possibly give. I was introduced to Matt through another company when my Cambridge condo had recent extensive water damage, causing somewhere between $40-50K in damages / repairs. I live in California now, and rent my condo out. Matt took all the stress off my plate. He was available right away, ALWAYS responsive in phone, text or email, and worked seamlessly with my insurance.

Due to the damages, I had to have flooring and sub flooring taken out and reinstalled, walls opened up, repaired, new cabinets, new paint throughout the condo, reinstall a granite countertop, a new backsplash, along with electric and plumbing work…he took care of either doing or coordinating it all. He went above and beyond, with nothing going unnoticed. He came across many obstacles along the way, but would call me once there was a solution to the problem, or after it was already taken care of. I can’t recommend Matt enough for how much he has helped my sanity with my dealing with this from across the country. He has done an incredible job from start to finish.

We recently had an issue with our sewerpipes which resulted in all of the floors in our unit needing to be replaced. Unfortunately, there were issues with the company that replaced the pipes and the Town of Brookline. Our project manager, Steve Reesor shepherded us through the process to resolve all of the issues so that Buildbak could proceed with our floor restoration. Additionally, Steve and the company did an exceptional job working with two insurance adjusters so that our losses were adequately covered.

All of the work in our unit was done according to our agreed upon timeline with the work being impeccable. There was excellent communication throughout the entire project.

Immediately upon hiring Buildbak we had a positive feeling that they would work with us until the project was completed . They truly gave us peace of mind which was most appreciated and needed.

Buildbak was there for us during a stressful time and took care of everything! Although, I could go on and on giving praise to this company my advice is to immediately call them if you have an insurance claim and need a company to work on your property!

Exceptional Service from Buildbak – Highly Recommend!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Buildbak to address water damage in my kitchen, and from start to finish, the service was nothing short of incredible. Having dealt with contractors who came and disappeared in the past, my experience with Buildbak, particularly with Paul J. LaGrandeur III, was a breath of fresh air.

Paul was not only highly responsive but also made me feel like my needs and concerns were consistently prioritized throughout the entire process. It’s rare to find a contractor who truly excels in customer service, but Buildbak has set a new standard for me.

What stood out the most was their honesty. Unlike some contractors who play games to overcharge, Buildbak provided an initial quote, and to my pleasant surprise, we ended up saving money. No funny business, just straightforward, transparent service.

I highly recommend Buildbak for their exceptional customer service, reliability, and honesty. If only they could handle all the work in my house – that’s how pleased I am with their services. Thank you, Buildbak, for turning what could have been a stressful situation into a pleasant experience.

Great job by the team renovating my condo. The team was very professional, on time and on budget. The workmanship was top notch. I highly recommend BuildBak and the team leader Bill Gordon. He was on top of the project start to finish and suggested several ideas which greatly increased the value of my condo

Buildbak put back our 3 unit condo after severe water damage. Paul worked with each unit & our public adjuster keeping us in the loop every step of the way. We struggled with our insurance company & Paul graciously worked with each of us & our budget to get us back home.

Paul & team were thorough & paid attention to every detail from flooring, ceiling finishes, and paint. We had to work with old cabinets from the 2000’s but replace with new flooring. Paul worked with us to make the 2 blend. The result is stunning & looks even better than the original! We felt heard during this process; Paul & team were patient with us as we were very overwhelmed at points because of insurance & made sure to explain options. Thanks to Build Bak, we are home! ✨

If you are unlucky enough to have a tree fall on your house, that luck instantly changes once Paul as the Project Manager at BuildBak walks in. The damage was extensive – roof, frame, interior and siding. And we had little experience in dealing with our insurance company. Amazing Paul, his great crews and the high standard at BuildBak was the solution.

We cannot give enough praise and accolades to their professionalism, communication and quality of work. Every crew that was brought in did an excellent job. If there was an issue, it was quickly solved and resolved.

Paul especially was an incredibly diligent problem solver – bringing in other experts that were also generous with their knowledge and time. And, he worked with our adjuster so we were able to work through the process seamlessly.

The result was a house restoration that was both structurally sound and beautiful. Every time we walk in our front door, we are grateful. To say they are recommended highly is not enough. They are the absolute best.

Go with Dan Nguyen and Buildbak for your project!! You will be so happy that you did. After a pipe leaked and flooded the house we were lucky enough to have Buildbak recommended to us. Dan came right over and started the restoration project. He was so great dealing with all the insurance company roadblocks. Dan got everything approved that was necessary to repair the extensive damage. Dan’s crew was excellent. The repair work which involved flooring, entire kitchen and bathroom and the basement, was done professionally and as quickly as possible despite many delays by the insurance company. Dan was so responsive to every inquiry. We would get a call back within minutes no matter if it was the evening or weekend. He made this difficult project go as smoothly as possible. I am so thankful to Dan and Buildbak for their great work and highly recommend them for your restoration project.

BuildBak was nothing short of awesome! We had a tree fall through our house and caused a good amount of damage. PJ, Steve and their whole crew were amazing throughout the whole process. Their communication was great and the end result was better than we could’ve asked for! Could not recommend BuildBak enough.

Buildbak was an amazing company to work with after experiencing extensive water damage in our house. Brian T, the project manager, did a fabulous job in leading the renovation. There were several obstacles along the way, and Brian handled them all with professionalism, positivity, and confidence. He had solutions for every problem and helped to navigate issues with the insurance company. He has a very thorough knowledge of construction and was able to explain the issues and approaches in detail but understandably. When the work was done, Brian brought in a cleaning crew to leave my house immaculate. With the renovation complete, my house is absolutely beautiful and a pleasure to come home to. I highly recommend Buildbak, and Brian, in particular, for their excellent work!
